Each and every day we are bombarded with news of natural disturbances and disasters. Volcanic eruptions, bursting clouds, forest fires, Tsunamis etc. cause unimaginable destruction. These violent disasters are a part of natural environmental cycle that helps restore the climate changes.
But if these events are necessary to stabilize the environmental changes, then why I am concerned with the occurrence of these events? Why I am writing so many blog posts concerning the importance of saving the environment and asking people to change their lifestyle to save our natural resources.
The reason behind my concern is the rate and intensity at which these natural disasters are occurring. With more and more green house gases (GHGs) being emitted into the atmosphere everyday, we are heading towards a large scale destruction which will be caused because of global climate change and global warming.
As predicted, 2010 has already hit the records of the hottest year in the last two centuries. The last hottest year was 1998. The history of earth’s surface temperature over the past 150 years shows a steady rise in surface temperature over the years due to global warming.
Unlike most natural disturbances, human impacts continue to intensify and become more widespread. As the human population is growing rapidly and invading natural ecosystems, the effects of natural disasters are becoming increasingly devastating. A large number of natural ecosystems are destroyed due to human intervention.
It is so important that we act swiftly and do something to mitigate the damage done. Though we can not restore the lost ecosystems, but we can prevent further damage to the environment by adapting renewable resources and reducing the consumption of fossil fuels.
In this blog you will find very useful information about environment and the ways you can contribute in saving the environment. Environment About will take you through the history, present and future of our environment through dedicated articles and categories.
I want to aware people about environmental crises and want to influence as many people as possible to take charge to save environment. I will be regularly posting blog entries on latest environmental crises and updates on research findings.
That is my Mission….
